For the last eight years, I have had the privilege of ministering to the people of Saint Anne. It has been eight years of growth, fun and many challenges. I’ve had the honor to work with Fr. Jack for two years and Fr. Bernie for the last six years. But as the saying goes, ‘All good things must come to an end.’
Fr. Bernie has managed to have me extended here for three extra and wonderful years. But the Personnel Board has said no more extensions. As of Friday, July 1st, I will be moving on to a new assignment in the Archdiocese. At this time, I do not know where that will be.
I am humbled by the great people at Saint Anne. Your generosity with time and talent and treasure has taught me so much about how God works with and through his people. And I will take with me all that you have taught me to my next assignment.
It has been wonderful working with the School, the Religious Education Program, the Human Concerns Commission, the Sharing Board, the Ministry of Care, the Scouts, the Community Events and wherever I have been privileged to share my gifts and talents with the Parish. I will truly miss all of you.
Fr. Bernie has arranged a weekend farewell on the weekend of June 11th-12th. I will speak at all the Masses and after the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Masses, there will be a reception in the School Gym. They tell me we will be having more than donut holes.
I will leave Saint Anne a better person and a better priest because of all that you have shared over the last eight years. I ask that you NOT expect the new Associate Pastor to do the things I have done. He will be bringing his own gifts and talents to share with all of you. And I know that you will welcome him as you welcomed me.
Thank you, Saint Anne, for all you have allowed me do in service to the Lord. I will miss you and keep you always in my prayer.
Fr. Tom Bishop
