Last Sunday, January 10, 2016, parishioners Bill and Margaret Graff were awarded the Christifideles Award by Archbishop Blase Cupich at Holy Name Cathedral. This award is given to a parishioner or a couple in each parish in the Archdiocese of Chicago that demonstrates their faithfulness and dedication through servant discipleship and ministry.
These awards are named after Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Exhortation, Christifideles Laici, on the role of the laity in the Church’s mission to the world. Father Bernie Pietrzak, our Pastor, respectfully submitted Bill and Margaret’s resume of service to the parish and our parish school to our Vicar, Bishop Rassas for this award.
As a married couple and parishioners for over 13 years, Bill and Margaret live out the call to servant discipleship and leadership in our parish community. Bill was served a term as our Parish School Advisory Chair and has been our Parish Council of Ministry Chair for the last three years. He has been intimately involved in our Newcomer Ministry and has helped to build up our parish spirit through his involvement in our Parish Life Commission.
Margaret, also served as the former Chair of the Parish School Advisory Board, has been a long standing member of our Annual Fall Classic Committee and continues to be a strong advocate – along with our Principal, in building up a spirit of trust and collaboration between our parents and the parish school.
Both Bill and Margaret are highly respected, engaged and involved members of our parish community and are true examples of Gospel Joy. They are representative of the very best of so many of our parishioners, who share their time and talent to build up our parish community by their leadership and example.
Thank you, Bill and Margaret, and congratulations from your fellow parishioners here at Saint Anne!
