This Archdiocesan Award is bestowed annually, upon an individual or couple in a parish community who have demonstrated by their commitment, dedication and participation in parish life, the ministerial renewal called for by the Papal Exhortation: Christifideles Laici, calling God’s People to the vocation of leadership and responsibility for the life of the Church that springs forth from the gift and mission of their baptism.
Today, we offer our congratulations and gratitude to Eryka and Richard Accordino, who received this award from Blase Cardinal Cupich last Sunday, October 3 2021 at Holy Name Cathedral. Both Eryka and Richard have shared their gifts of time and talent in such generous and faithful ways over the last years.
Eryka was one of the parish chairpersons who organized the reopening of our church over the last few years since the Pandemic. She recruited and trained parishioner volunteers, organized all the details and protocols required by the Archdiocese for the reopening of our church, while also becoming a part of the team that livestreams our weekly liturgy.
Richard has been a leader in our Legacy of Faith Construction Committee over the last three years. He has handled the financial oversight over the many construction projects that have served to enhance and revitalize our parish facilities. He is also an active member of our Campaign Leadership Committee.
In your name and mine, I offer them our gratitude for their many hours of servant discipleship and leadership among us. They are representative of the incredible commitment of so many parishioners who take their Baptismal call to the vocation of leadership and responsibility in our parish community.
