Faith & Racial Healing
bracing Truth, Justice, and Restoration

February 10, 2022

Saint Anne Faithjustice Announces…

…the next program in a three-part series created by JustFaith Ministries (Louisville, KY) that looks at faith and racial justice.

Faith & Racial Healing

Embracing Truth, Justice, and Restoration

This eight-session program helps parishioners understand and speak the truth about our collective history of racism and violence, that we might seek real restoration with God and with one another. This program explains the historical context behind the wide racial inequalities we face today. Though this program focuses specifically on African slaves and their descendants, it will look to patterns of injustice that affect other people of color across the nation as well.

Adult Education Continues via Zoom

Thirty-eight Saint Anne parishioners participated last winter in Part I of the program, Faith & Racial Equity: Exploring Power and Privilege. That was our first use of Zoom for adult learning. The feedback was so positive that we are opting to do it again. We were able to break into small groups for discussion and found that the convenience of logging on from home outweighed one another’s physical presence. The other thing we learned was that the topic of faith and racial justice requires more time between sessions for reflection, processing, and plowing through the assigned readings and videos. With that in mind we are going to meet

Every Other Monday 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

FEB 28, 2022 • MAR 14, 2022 • MAR 28, 2022 • APR 11, 2022 •  APR 25 2022 • MAY 9, 2022 • MAY 23, 2022 • JUN 6, 2022

We will again offer an afternoon program if there is enough interest in an alternative time.

Program Objectives

  • Learn about the history of racial injustice in the U.S., so that we might better understand and more effectively eradicate modern-day racial injustice.
  • Learn how faith communities responded to racial injustice in the past, so that we might learn from their successes and their mistakes.
  • Learn from the faith and spiritual wisdom of those who endured injustice and stood for freedom.
  • Develop practical tools for seeking racial justice in our local communities and our nation

More program details and registration information will follow in next week’s Clarion.

Registration will be available on the parish website after Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
