Karen Poglitsch, the Administrative Assistant for Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the past 4 years is leaving Barrington in June, her last day on the job being Monday June 17. Her husband has been promoted in his company and is being relocated to North Carolina. Things have progressed well for the Poglitsch family. The youth ministry program has benefited greatly by Karen’s excellent organizational and administrative skills during her tenure at Saint Anne. In our collaborative work we have created a handbook for the Paths confirmation program; a comprehensive manual for the Kairos retreat; refined the Spiritus retreat and created a way for all registrations for all programs to be easily done online.
Beyond that, Karen has brought her profound love of her Catholic faith into her work with the teens as a mentor for Kairos student talks; as well as openly sharing her own story on the many Kairos retreat she has led. Her love of Scripture has led her to take the classes offered by Saint Anne through Loyola University; and she has faithfully met with a spiritual director to further intensify her relationship and knowledge of God. I will personally miss the close working relationship we have developed these four years and the many spiritual conversations that have been a regular part of our work. Through a professional relationship, Karen has become a wonderful and caring friend. I will miss her as will many of the adults and teens who have worked with her. I am sure that whoever assumes her former position, will continue to keep our programs alive, creative and vibrant. Deo Gratias.
I invite anyone who would like to bid Karen Poglitsch farewell to stop by after the 9 and 11 AM Masses on June 2 in the Gathering Space. As a part of the Faith Formation and Education Commission, Karen and I will be there after the Masses that day as the commission highlights the programs we offer our parish.
