Your help is needed! – Please contact your House and Senate lawmakers and urge them to vote NO on Extreme Abortion Bills HB2467 & SB1594 and HB2495 & SB 1942. These aggressive bills are planned to be introduced in the Illinois General Assembly legislature within the next two weeks.
Please take a few minutes to read the following information:
Parental Notice House Bill 2467 (Welch-D) and Senate Bill 1594 (Sims-D) are identical and seek to repeal the Illinois Parental Notice of Abortion Act. This law, which has been in statute since 1995, but not implemented/enforced since 2013, requires a parent or legal guardian be notified when a minor – under the age of 18 – seeks an abortion. The law includes a judicial waiver for those children who have been physically or sexually abused – and has been effective. Illinois Department of Public Health statistics show a decrease in abortions by minors since 2013.
House Bill 2595 (Cassidy-D) and Senate Bill 1942 (Bush-D) seek to establish the Reproductive Health Act. The changes these bills would bring are numerous and hard to fathom. The bills would take an extreme position where abortion is a “fundamental right”; a fetus does not have any “independent rights under the laws of this state.” No limits on abortion – can be performed any time in the nine month pregnancy, for any reason. Abortions would no longer have to be performed by doctors. All existing licensing requirements and health standards for facilities would be removed or undermined. Allow women to obtain abortion pills without a physician’s prescription. Expressly declare that the unborn child has no rights. Remove conscience protections from pro-life doctors, nurses and hospitals who refuse to participate in abortions.
