For PATHS parents and candidates: there will be a special Mass of Candidacy where students will be recognized for being in the final year of preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. During this Mass, each teen will receive a sacred symbol of this step in the form of a cross that will be placed upon them. Our hope is that they will begin to see this year as being important and prominent in the development of their faith and their commitment specifically to the Catholic Church. In a relatively short time, they will be stepping before the bishop to be anointed with Holy Chrism, becoming full members of the Catholic Church.
Because this is a special occasion, students are requested to dress appropriately for the occasion with clothing that speaks of the solemnity of the ritual. For young women, a dress or skirt of appropriate length or a pants outfit and for our young men, a dress shirt with tie and jacket. We would like all candidates to sit on the west side of the church together, apart from their families, as sitting together can foster a greater sense of community and unity with the young people.
Following Mass, our first PATHS group session will take place, in the Parish Center, for both students and adults. During this session, we will present the features of our program, as well as hear from students about their experiences in the program.
Below are the dates of the remaining large group presentations, to be held in the Parish Gym.
