Dear People of Saint Anne,
As you may know, Pope Francis has called together two synods or meetings of representative bishops throughout the world to consider the heart and the reality of family life in our world.
The first synod took place last fall, and the second will take place this coming October. Our own Archbishop Blase Cupich has been named as an alternate delegate to this important synod.
The theme of the synod is the vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in our contemporary world. The hope of the synod is to help enable family life to become a more privileged place where we meet God and God meets us. It is also call to us to assist the vocation of family life to assume its mission in the world in a real and renewed way.
This means that Archbishop Cupich is asking us to reflect with him about the joys, challenges and complexities that families face in our contemporary world today. He is asking us for our feedback to help him prepare for his work in offering our voice, wisdom and experience to the institutional Church this coming October.
As your pastor, I would strongly encourage you to make the time to fill out this brief survey by the link provided here: https://stannebarrington.org/parish-consultation-form/ I know that this request has a quick turn around time and deadline. Your completed replies to this survey would be needed by March 4th.
Upon reception of your completed survey, both myself, and the Core Parish Staff will synthesize your comments and observations into a letter that we will submit to Archbishop Cupich on March 9, 2015.
In the short time that our new Archbishop has been with us, remembering his Welcome Mass here at Saint Anne and at a pastor’s meeting that I attended, at which he was present, I truly believe that the Archbishop truly wants to hear your observations, reflections and concerns regarding your experience of family life, as our Church moves forward with the prophetic and pastoral leadership of Pope Francis.

With the Holy Family as our Inspiration,
