We have been blessed this summer with bumper crops of tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, squash, and peppers, Parish home gardeners are invited to bring fresh, washed produce from the plenty of their veggie gardens (or local farmstands if you don’t have a green thumb…). Baskets will be set up in the Creation Care “farmstand” in the Gathering Space for all donations.
Parishioners without gardens or unable to garden any longer are invited to take whatever they can use. Brown paper sacks will be available. Any produce left at the end of each weekend will be brought to the Saint Anne Project Hope Food Pantry.
Check out the 4-minute video on gardens on the Archdiocese of Chicago website. It features at 3:02 the Saint Anne Creation mural—one of our Laudato Si’ garden areas behind the Saint Anne School gym.
“Ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you…Who among all these
does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is
the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.”
