Hope Ministries recently awarded 20 community organizations with grants totaling more than $260,000 to help extend its mission into the greater Barrington area.
Hope Ministries’ Grants of Hope program invites various community organizations to apply for a grant of up to $20,000 to assist the poor, marginalized or disenfranchised. Invitations are extended based upon an organization’s ability to help Hope Ministries expand its ministerial reach.
Applications are reviewed by a grants committee who perform site visits and evaluate all organizational documents. This year, the Grants of Hope committee included: Mary Lou Albanese, Mary Bottie, Pat Sesing and Don Wynard. Hope Ministries is grateful for their time and dedication throughout the process.
The committee then makes recommendations to the Hope Ministries’ Board of Advisors. The Board of Advisors are: Chairman Ron Cobb, Jim Beattie, Anna Brown, Ron Niemaszyk, Judy Pluard, Fr. Joji Thanugundla and Tom Stanley. The grant process was overseen by Sue Olafson, director of Hope Ministries and Father Bernie Pietrzak, pastor, and also a member of the Board of Advisors.
Hope Ministries is a St. Anne Catholic Community ministry that seeks to help individuals and families in crisis. Through Project Hope, a self-serve food pantry, Caring and Sharing, a volunteer-recommended gifts program and Grants of Hope, its community grants program, Hope Ministries is able to touch the lives of thousands in need. Its funding arm is the House of Hope, an upscale, Lake Zurich-based resale shop, where more than 300 volunteers provided more than 50,000 volunteer hours.
Volunteers are a critical component to Hope Ministries. To volunteer, call Hope Ministries at 847-381-5721.
