Sharing Board

Gold_Parish_sharing_logo_04-3Mission

We believe that our Sharing Program makes the Gospel vision of love real through effective action. The Sharing Program provides a concrete way of expressing this vision by:

  • Sharing our faith,
  • Building bridges through friendship and understanding,
  • Sharing financial resources, food, clothing and ourselves.
  • Involving the Parish members more directly in outreach activities.

A Tradition of Sharing

Parish Sharing is an archdiocesan-wide program that seeks to build bridges between communities separated by race, ethnicity, culture and economic disparity. Parishes of differing backgrounds are linked as sharing parishes, with the hope that each will strengthen the other through the sharing of faith and resources.

Saint Anne has participated in Parish Sharing since its inception. Saint Anneʹs Sharing Parish is Saint Mary Frances of the Five Wounds of Jesus. This is the parish resulting from the merger of Saint Frances of Rome (in Cicero),  and Saint Mary of Celle (in Berwyn). Both worship sites remain open. The parish school is in Cicero and remains known as Saint Frances of Rome. As of July 1, 2022, the new Pastor of Saint Mary Frances is Fr. Radek Jaszczuk, CSsR, who is originally from Poland. A member of the Redemptorist Order, Fr. Radek spent many years in Argentina before coming to the United States.

At Saint Anne, the Sharing Board oversees the Parish Sharing program. Members of the Sharing Board keep in close contact with our Sharing Parish, Saint Mary Francis of the Five Wounds of Jesus, as well as another sharing partner: Saint Moses the Black Food Pantry (formerly the Saint Columbanus Food Pantry.)

Funds received from the “Gold Envelopes” or “Parish Sharing Envelopes” and electronic donations collected every month via Give Central are directed to the needs of our sharing partners. The Sharing Board also looks for ways to build and strengthen ties between our different communities.

The Sharing Board has many ongoing activities throughout the year to support our Sharing Partners. These include the Sharing Tree, held during Advent, which benefits both of our partners, as well as food drives for Saint Moses the Black Food Pantry and school activities for the students of Saint Anne and Saint Frances. There are many ways to get involved! We welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about what we do to come to one of our monthly meetings or contact our chairperson, Bill Sneed at william.sneed@icloud.com.

Saint Mary Frances of the Five Wounds of Jesus

Saint Mary Frances of the Five Wounds of Jesus is a vibrant faith community, which welcomes different cultural traditions. On July 1, 2022, the parishes of St. Mary of Celle in Berywn and St. Frances of Rome in Cicero were unified into a single parish, St. Mary Frances of the Five Wounds.  Both worship sites remain open for masses and other celebrations.  Our Pre-K thru 8th grade elementary school has retained the name St. Frances of Rome School.

As our Sharing Parish, the majority of the funds collected through Parish Sharing envelopes and electronic donations are directed to Saint Mary Frances of the Five Wounds of Jesus.  They have consistently directed most of these funds to support tuition assistance for the many students in their school that have financial need.

Opportunities for a social, cultural and liturgical exchange are as important as sharing of resources. Members of each parish are always welcome guests at the liturgies in the other parish. In addition, the children of both parish schools participate in a number of cooperative programs, building a foundation of cross-cultural friendship and understanding.

We welcome Fr. Radek Jaszczuk to our Sharing Board meetings several times each year, so he can update the Board on the Saint Mary Frances of the Five Wounds of Jesus parish and the St. Frances of Rome School.

On Tuesday, 10/18 the St. Anne 3rd grade visited St. Frances of Rome for a day of activities in relation to the “Day of the Dead” celebration which hold great significance in Hispanic culture. It was a fun-filled day learning about their friends at St. Frances as well as their culture.

SHARING SCHOOLS

Saint Anne and Saint Frances of Rome Schools

An important part of the Sharing Board's mission is to build bridges through friendship and understanding.  Our Sharing Schools program helps achieve this by bringing students from both parish schools together on a regular basis to build relationships and learn more about each other through a variety of activities.

For more information or to volunteer to help, contact Eryka Accordino at erykah@live.com

Saint Moses the Black Food Pantry

Saint Moses the Black Food Pantry (formerly Saint Columbanus Food Pantry)

The Saint Moses the Black Food Pantry is a comprehensive program providing food, clothes and social service for over 600 at-risk families in the Park Manor neighborhood on the south side of Chicago.

The Sharing Board holds food drives two times a year to directly support the food pantry. These are held around Thanksgiving and Easter. We always need volunteers to help with these drives.  If you are interested in helping at one of the drives, please contact our Food Drive Coordinator.

Members of the Sharing Board also occasionally drive down on Wednesdays to help pack and distribute food at the pantry. If you are interested in learning more about this, contact Peggy Hirsch at peggyhirsch@aol.com.
