“I thank God every day for St. Martin and Sister Therese.”
A ST. MARTIN DE PORRES TESTIMONIAL
The following is an excerpt from a testimonial letter from a former resident of St. Martin de Porres entitled “Marsha’s Miracle”:
“My name is Marsha. I am 59 years old. I’m a recovering alcoholic and I came to St. Martin de Porres in June 2012. When I got here I was a broken, pitiful, desperate woman with nowhere to go and no hope for the future. I was homeless, jobless, penniless and terrified. I didn’t really believe in God anymore. If he did exist, my only prayer to Him was to let me die.”
(Marsha describes the tragedies in her life led her to alcoholism and will to die.)
“God decided not to let me die no matter how hard I tried, and instead, He brought me to St. Martins. This was where my life changed. I surrendered. Here I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about alcoholism… I didn’t always like it, but I kept going forward… I then decided to go back to school…. I stayed at St. Martins so I could devote myself to my studies. I kept a 4.0 GPA the entire time…. I graduated, passed my board exam and am now working full time….at a major hospital.”
“Just 2 ½ years ago I was living in a nursing home, trying to drink myself to death. No hope, no self respect and now I’m once again a productive member of society. I couldn’t have done it without being sober and I couldn’t have stayed sober on my own. I thank God every day for St. Martins and Sister Therese. This amazing woman allowed me to stay in her home, asked nothing of me except to work on myself, and loved and believed in me when I couldn’t do it for myself.”
This is just one example of the many miracles that occur at St. Martin de Porres House of Hope. The St. Anne Sharing Board is proud to support Sister Therese and all of her efforts in helping these desperate women find sobriety and purpose in their lives. Please help in our efforts by continuing to contribute through the Sharing Envelope or through electronic contributions.
