Music

The music ministry at Saint Anne exists to enable the sung prayer of the whole assembly, as well as to add its unique contribution of harmony and various sonorities of instruments. All of the efforts of the many people who make up our music ministry are oriented toward the goal of raising hearts and minds to God through active participation in music and song. To this end, we have several choirs and instrumentalists.

Adult Choir, Cantors & Musicians

Adult Choir:  The adult choir sings year round at the 11:00 Mass Sunday and on other holy days and holidays as needed. Rehearsals are weekly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Cantors:  Cantors are recruited from and rehearse with the other choirs. Anyone interested in cantoring should join a choir that sings at a Mass that suits their schedule.

Instrumentalists:  Individuals who are competent in various musical instruments are encouraged to audition.

Children’s Choir

Children’s Choir: The Saint Anne Children’s Choir welcomes all children, Grades 1 – 5. Choir rehearsals are held in the Parish Center (second floor conference room) on Monday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. (beginning on October 2, 2023). For more information, please contact Ms. Breda, Children’s Choir Director, at bbarry@stannebarrington.org.

The Church also needs musicians. How many sacred works have been composed through the centuries by people deeply imbued with the sense of the mystery! The faith of countless believers has been nourished by melodies flowing from the hearts of other believers, either introduced into the liturgy or used as an aid to dignified worship. In song, faith is experienced as vibrant joy, love, and confident expectation of the saving intervention of God.
